WSU Art Museum

Washington state university  Art Museum

The Museum of Art is envisioned as a compelling beacon for the arts – inviting students, staff, campus visitors and regional community members to experience the vitality of the arts at Washington State University. Gustafson Guthrie Nichol, working with Olson Kundig, led the masterplanning analysis to evaluate the potential of various sites in the context of the University’s larger masterplan. Located at the crest of a hill, the Museum will have territorial views of the spectacular, quintessential landscape that defines the region – the palouse. The new museum will add 8,000 square feet of galleries, storage and support spaces while cementing the important role of the Arts at the University with a building fronting Terrell Mall. GGN provided preliminary concept designs for a welcoming garden-like plaza, strongly integrated with the pedestrian mall and the student union.
