Miramar Santa Monica Redevelopment
MIRAMAR SANTA MONICA
The Miramar Santa Monica is a 4.4 acre site located along Ocean Avenue atop the Palisades bluff of downtown Santa Monica, CA. The proposed design embraces and celebrates the site’s rich history while incorporating exceptional contemporary architecture, sustainability, and a verdant garden landscape with expansive views of the Santa Monica Bay. The Miramar Hotel has been an iconic coastal destination and a centerpiece of Downtown Santa Monica for over a century, and the design was carefully considered to ensure that it is maintained for the next chapter of Santa Monica's future.
The new open spaces, namely the Miramar Gardens and the Palisades Gardens, are designed to enhance and feature the Miramar’s two designated Landmarks, the Palisades Building and the Moreton Bay Fig Tree, which will become the centerpiece of the site. Thoughtfully designed interconnected spaces are bound together with a diverse and colorful palette of drought tolerant California native plants. These spaces provide the opportunity for social interaction or relaxation all while taking in exceptional views of the Moreton Bay Fig Tree, Palisades Park, and the Pacific Ocean.
