Corixa Headquarters
Corixa Headquarters
Nine stories above the corner of 9th Avenue and Stewart Street in downtown Seattle are two sunny terraces that provide those who visit and work at the Corixa Headquarters an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and impressive views.
Situated on the North and South corners of the building, these outdoor rooms offer two experiences. Sculpted turf and wood decking create an outdoor dining area and a foreground to expansive views of Lake Union and North Seattle. In early spring the turf is transformed by an informal sprinkling of miniature Daffodils. The eye floats along the curling plane of deck and landform, then transitions from the South Terrace to the adjacent Seattle skyline. Softly textured silver-blue plants are layered to blur the edge of the terrace and flutter in the breezes. The silver atmospheric quality of the planting is punctuated in the foreground and background by red toned leaves emerging in the fall, warmly complimenting the interior hardwood floors and fireplace. Flexible in use, the spacious deck of the south terrace encourages one to enjoy the sun on an afternoon break or host an informal evening gathering.
