AirPark Columbus College Campus

AirPark Columbus College Campus is situated on the north end of Columbus, Indiana. It is home to four institutions; the Community Education Center, Ivy Tech Community College, IUPUC, and Purdue Polytechnic Institute. The collective goal of these institutions with this project is to provide a vision for development that serves the economic and educational needs of the region.

The Framework Plan developed by GGN looks to redefine the ‘campus’ experience into one unique to the AirPark site that achieves a whole-life place for the community over a traditional educational landscape.

The design focuses on making this a productive ground defined by the people within it. It breaks down the over-sized landscape through the concepts of village and park. The Village seeks to bring in pedestrian scaled streets, green corridors, temporary activitation, and improve connections to the site’s neighbors. The Park seeks to create a wide array of public outdoor spaces that serve individual to large scale programmatic needs. Both seek to create the potential for exposure to new opportunity and growth for visitors and students.
