Watermark Credit Union

This project was part of a larger renovation of the historic Roffe building in downtown Seattle to accommodate the new corporate headquarters of the Watermark Credit Union. It consists of a concrete planter and bench element which appears to slide continuously from the interior to the exterior of the building.

The concrete on the exterior of the building was constructed with a custom board-formed pattern, utilizing voids in the form to create an aesthetic pattern as well as integrated skateboard protection. The texture of rough cedar fence boards in the formwork combines with the planting to allude to the regional landscape of the Pacific Northwest Forest. The patterning and overall form of the concrete relate to the emerging South Lake Union neighborhood in which the project is situated.
