This multi-phased project for the expansion of Boston's Museum of Fine Arts began with a master plan collaboration for the entire campus, in the context of an overall building expansion program that would accommodate the museum's growth well into the future. The design supports the goal of linking the institution back to its historic relationship with the adjacent Fenway, an Olmsted-designed landscape that is part of Boston's historic Emerald Necklace. The project advances the idea that the Museum should not simply sit alongside the Park but should become immersed in it. The design of new entry landscapes and vehicular drop-off areas strengthens the identity of the Museum as a welcoming and accessible member of the community.
