Grant Park is a 320-acre site located in downtown Chicago and is a prominent component of the City’s extensive lakefront park system. The Grant Park Framework Plan was prepared by others and outlines a strategy to restore, reclaim, and transform the park into a comprehensive public commons based on current and projected park needs.
The Grant Park Garden Overlay utilizes the Framework Plan to develop the next level of design guidelines by defining a range of landscape opportunities within the park and by recommending locations for landscape installations and pedestrian spaces. The Garden Overlay develops a palette of programmatic elements that enhances the natural beauty and activates the various areas of Grant Park.
